The Eye Institute of Essex performs routine eye examinations for children and adults which include evaluation of refractive errors, testing for glaucoma, cataracts, retinal diseases and eye muscle function. Our expert staff can fit you with contact lens for correction of refractive errors, and we stock a wide variety of disposable, astigmatic, colored and bifocal contact lenses.

Eye Institute Eyewear
Eye Institute Eyewear is our on-site optical shop, staffed with a licensed optician. You will find the latest fashions in eyewear, popular lens options such as "no-line" bifocal and Transition light sensing lenses, in a price range to suit your needs. Eye Institute Eyewear has a complete optical shop in both of our office locations.

Billing & Insurance Services

The Eye Institute of Essex is a Medicare participating provider.
In addition, all physicians are participants in over 70 managed care plans, HMO's and PPO's including Aetna U.S. Healthcare, Oxford Health, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Horizon Healthcare Plans, United Healthcare and Cigna. Our specially trained office staff can answer all of your insurance questions and verify participation in your particular insurance plan. They can assist you in questions concerning necessary referrals and in scheduling your appointment at any of our office locations. For your convenience both Saturday and evening hours are available. Our billing department will submit to your insurance carrier directly and also answer any confusing questions pertaining to insurance billing and payment.
To complement many insurance and healthcare plans our physicians are on staff at many area hospitals including Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, NJ; St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, NJ; The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, New York, NY; the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Newark, NJ and River Drive Surgery Center, Elmwood Park, NJ.
